Our technical support team is dedicated to maintaining the infrastructure necessary for successful technology adoption and implementation at Northwest College. They provide support for all instructional and administrative computing at the Alief, Katy and Spring Branch campuses. This includes:
Maintain a clean inventory list of all technology assets purchased by the college and coordinate. Plan and coordinate computer replacements for faculty and staff.
Faculty & Staff Computers
Address and respond to issues faced by staff that inhibits their effective use of technology and ensure a seamless environment. Includes but not limited to antivirus solutions, antispyware solutions, email, Active Directory and network resources.
Build and maintain software database as well us physical copies and repository storage of software purchased by the college.
Supervise the upgrading of existing classes and labs to accommodate new technologies. Co-ordinated with vendors, department chairs or department representatives to ensure that all parties are in agreement as to the manner (location, timing, etc) in which the project is to be carried out. Coordinate installion and upgraded of all multimedia classrooms.
Ensure local area network uptime; wired and wireless through close coordination with Network Department.
Open Computer Labs
Build images and restore computers at the beginning of each semester, maintain student resources and data access, resolve hardware and software issues, contact hardware vendors for warranty replacements and repairs. Includes but not limited to antivirus solutions, antispyware solutions, email, Active Directory, network resources.
Projects & Recommendations
Help coordinate technology related projects, provide recommendations and documentation to management. Regular attendance and participation in the Hardware/Software Standards Committee meetings and deliberations. Implement recommended standards to maintain uniformity of hardware and software across the HCC system.
Manage the current 24 servers; ensure uptime and software vendor access for software maintenance and upgrades. Maintain Student Application servers, DHCP, antivirus software, Ghost software, Deploy-Studio, student file sharing and college web servers. Implementation of backup solution for college servers. Instructional applications include Maple, Adam, PDMS, Business Tech, Mathematica, Autocad, Keyboarding Pro, Oracle, MyITLab and ADA softwares like Wynn and Zoomtext.
Video Conference Room
Polycom videoconference system scheduling and support. System used for Northwest College Town Hall meetings and interviews.
